This amount of renewable energy alongside the ability to reduce the size of the waste to as little as 5% of the original size is resulting in energy-from-waste market size growing year on year and is expected to hit £1.5 billion in the UK alone this year.
However, this solution does have its challenges, particularity emissions arising from the combustion of materials such as non-recyclable plastics, other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Glosfume have been providing energy-from-waste hot gas filter systems for decades, enabling the safe reduction and removal of sub-micron particles, acid gases, dioxins, furans and heavy metals.
Authorities are imposing tighter restrictions on the use of energy-from-waste systems due to the emissions they can create. At Glosfume we have designed filtration media to resolve these problems, resulting in catalytic filter elements coated with a micro-porous surface finish which will trap sub-micron particles, whilst simultaneously reducing NOx levels. Providing solutions to the most stringent of restrictions whilst also enabling systems to be carbon capture ready.
