Description

Glosfume’s Ceramic Hot Gas Filters

The Glosfume ceramic hot gas filter elements are designed to remove particulate matter with filtration efficiencies exceeding 99.99%, even at high temperatures up to 1000°C. Developed and commercialised in 2003, our in-house manufacturing facility originally catered to the aluminium industry, addressing the issue of filter bag fires caused by sparks in the gas stream. These sparks ignited carbon collected on fabric filters.

Glosfume ceramic candle filters were developed using high-temperature fibres, designed to operate similarly to traditional fabric filters but with much higher temperature capability and resistance to sparks. Since 2003, our filters have been utilised in various applications, from product recovery to renewable energy generation, such as energy-from-waste.

Benefits of Ceramic Candle Hot Gas Filters

  • High-Temperature Filtration: Ceramic hot gas filter candles can withstand extreme temperatures of up to 1000°C, making them ideal for processes where high heat is unavoidable and suitable for all processes including scrubbing.
  • Non-flammable and Resistant to Acids and Alkalis.
  • Reduces the Need for Reaction Towers or Cyclones.
  • Ecological and Economic Efficiency: Filtering exhaust gases at high temperatures is both environmentally responsible and economically advantageous. By maintaining high temperatures, processes can avoid the energy losses associated with cooling gases solely for filtration purposes.
  • Enhanced Resource Recovery: Beyond air pollution control, hot gas filtration enables the recovery of valuable raw materials. Dust and particulates captured from exhaust gases can be reintegrated into the production process, conserving raw materials and enhancing overall plant efficiency.
  • Compatibility with Heat Recovery Systems: Efficient dust removal at high temperatures facilitates the use of advanced systems for heat recovery or power generation, contributing to greater energy efficiency and lower operational costs.

Types of Ceramic Filters and Sizes Available:

As the trusted and leading manufacturers, we produce the best G3 filters, meaning our high temperature ceramic filters can operate in temperatures up to 1000°C.

Our G3 filter elements are available in the following sizes:

  • 500mm length (G3-500)
  • 1000mm length (G3-1000)
  • 1250mm length (G3-1250)
  • 3000mm length (G3-3000)
  • 5000mm length (G3-5000)

These sizes have been proven to achieve optimum particulate filtration, however should you need elements which are bespoke and of different lengths, we also provide custom sizes tailored to your requirements.

Key Features of Glosfume’s Ceramic G3 Filter Elements:

There are many reasons our ceramic filter elements are industry-leading:

  • 99.99% Filtration Efficiency: Remove sub-micron and nano-sized particles.
  • High Temperature Filtration Threshold: Our G3 filters are operational up to 1000°C, whereas G4 filters operate up to 750°C.
  • Compatibility with Sorbents: Effective in various industrial processes.
  • Non-Combustibility: Safe operation in high-risk environments and industries.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Durable in harsh conditions where acids and alkalines are present.

Designing pollution control equipment around Glosfume hot gas filtration media saves on capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX), reduces the footprint of installations, and provides extended service life and energy savings.
